Claire (Emma Roberts) and Hailey (Joanna 'JoJo' Levesque) are vibrant and lively best friends. Hailey's mother, an ocean biologist, is about to move the family to Australia after school starts. With the two friends soon to be separated, they decide to spend the summer at the beach, hoping their time together will last a little longer. While there, they encounter a strange event: a legendary mermaid named Aquamarine (Sara Paxton) enters their lives. It turns out that Aquamarine has arrived on the current to find true love in three days. Otherwise, she will be forced to marry someone she doesn't love. The lifeguard Raymond (Jake McDorman) is the prince charming she's been waiting for. Aquamarine seeks advice from Claire and Hailey on how to win Raymond's heart. However, both girls, experiencing their first crush, find themselves enchanted by Raymond as well. With the added interference of the flirtatious rival Cecelia (Arielle Kebbel), this summer beach adventure is set to be full of drama.

Let us occasionally indulge in this sweetness.

This is such a cute movie that makes you smile uncontrollably, like the feeling of looking up from the bottom of the sea to see the sunlight sparkling on the waves. There's no depth, no sadness, and no burden—it's simply a fairy tale where the princess and the prince know each other's hearts, and the best friends hold hands and embrace, their friendship as solid as can be.

The main characters are pretty ordinary: one is chubby with a round face, the other is small and unremarkable. The little girl's emotions are clear on her face, and when faced with parting, she encounters a real mermaid. In order to make her wish come true, she sets aside her own dreams to help the mermaid win over the handsome lifeguard. There's tracking, competition to worry about, and the constant concern of the mermaid's tail being exposed. This summer is full of thrills. After all, they want to continue living together, and they even see a storm as a good thing, putting aside their pink fantasies for a moment. One wish is all they need.

Two little girls and a mermaid, three days of time, each with their own goals—it’s hard to believe they could form such deep bonds. Even the practical questions of how to truly recognize love and whether the man, who was showing off his muscles to other women just days ago, can truly be trusted with their hearts, remain unanswered. But, since it’s playful, lighthearted, and simply a warm story, we accept it without question.

In the end, the wish remains just that—a wish, like an unopened magic box, more precious than any gift. In the end, the three are still together, but they move in different directions, leaving behind the memory of a summer's end.

Let’s indulge in the sweetness for a while, watching the fireworks light up their faces, seeing them dance together with her gracefully walking into his arms, watching him nervously joke about her tail, the phosphorescent glow shining beautifully. Watching them tumble and laugh together, not knowing whose arm or whose leg belongs to whom, seeing them bicker like children and make up just as quickly, feeling the warmth of a kiss, but knowing it’s the embrace that truly matters. Summer is indeed the season for us to be together.

Summer is just the time for movies like this!

Watching this movie doesn't really require much thought about the plot! On a peaceful summer afternoon, with a refreshing drink in hand, this film is the perfect accompaniment! What captivated me the most were the beautiful landscapes in the movie, and of course, the OST! I highly recommend Island in the Sun ! It’s a summer song that makes you want to dance!

By the way, one of the leads, Emma Roberts, is actually the niece of the famous Julia Roberts!

Feel good as a pre-teen girl

when I was a little girl, I always indulged in beautiful fairy tales about sleep beauty, princess pea and mermaid... But, I have to confess this film is just a stream of clichés,the plot somewhat fluffy. But if u r in bad mood, it will be a good choice...sweet girls, sunny boy, blue sky, magic scenery~~~ And,U don't have to ponder any more, just lie in ur sofa with crisps, like a pre-teen girl does!! I found something tickle my funny bones and was imparted a real sense of "feel good"! Highly recommend it to any who still have a little bit of imagination left or someone in their cloudy days~~

Love is the closest thing to magic that humanity possesses.

Ava had always been searching for what she thought was love, Raymond, the handsomest guy in town.

But in the end, Ava first received confessions of love from two sisters, the kind and gentle Claire and Hailey. Love is about giving, love is about sacrifice, love needs Claire’s courage and wit, love needs Hailey’s kindness and innocence, and love should be acted upon, just like the beautiful mermaid Ava did.

Love can create many miracles. Perhaps, love itself is a miracle.

Love is the closest thing to magic that humanity possesses.

My childhood memories.

It’s so wonderful that you love this movie! The songs in it are indeed so catchy and heartfelt. It’s one of those films that stays with you, and it’s amazing how it can still bring out emotions even though it’s a comedy. It's funny how something that's supposed to be lighthearted and sweet can still make you feel so nostalgic and teary.

Though the movie has that "silly, sweet" style, it really touches on deeper themes like searching for love, protecting friendship, and maintaining family bonds. It's really heartwarming and definitely one of those films that resonates with girls, especially since it’s tied to childhood memories.

And the ending… it’s bittersweet, isn’t it? The best friends don’t end up together, and neither do the lovers, but they both have hope for the future. In a way, that makes it even more perfect, because it shows that life isn’t about tying everything up in a neat bow, but about cherishing the journey and looking forward to what’s ahead.
